Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov met with the US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo and discussed with her the need to strengthen the sanctions and economic blockade of the Russian Federation.

Fedorov announced this on Telegram, as reported by Ukrinform.

“The sanctions and economic blockade of the Russian Federation should be strengthened. Russia should be completely deprived of technology. Ukraine should be put in a leading position in the pace of military-technology development. These are one of the main topics. We evaluated our meeting with the US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo,” he said.

The head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs noted that both business and the US government have made an “incredible contribution to Ukraine’s future victory”. Fedorov said, “American companies are the support of Ukraine. We appreciate the strong support of AWS, Microsoft, Visa, Apple, Google and other tech giants.”

According to him, the priority today is cooperation in the development of military technologies. He emphasized that “technology is what makes us more efficient, flexible and resilient.”

The Minister thanked Raimondo for the meeting. We continue to strengthen our cooperation with our reliable partner and strategic ally. I am sure there will be more in the future.”

As reported by Ukrinform, in November, the US Treasury Department and State Department announced the imposition of sanctions against more than 40 individuals and entities that ensure the operation of illegal technology procurement schemes for the Russian military-industrial complex.
