The State Space Agency of Ukraine and the American Space Agency (NASA) discussed prospects for the development of cooperation, including the Artemis program.
This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the press service of the DKA.
It was noted that a meeting was held with the head of the DKA, Volodymyr Taftai, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the space flight of Leonid Kadenyuk, the first astronaut of independent Ukraine, as part of the NASA STS-87 mission. and NASA administrator Senator Bill Nelson.
The head of the agency expressed his gratitude to the American side for the help in training the Ukrainian astronaut and the opportunity to fly in the space shuttle.
Highly appreciating the collaborative experience gained during preparation and direct spaceflight, the parties discussed the prospects for furthering cooperation, particularly within the Artemis program.
Artemis is a NASA program that aims to “send the first woman and next man to the surface of the Moon” and create the infrastructure for the next flight to Mars there.
As reported, the Orion spacecraft launched into lunar orbit as part of NASA’s Artemis mission is already on its way to Earth. It was launched from Cape Canaveral Cosmodrome on November 16.
