A group of researchers from ESET talked about a recent finding. They identified three vulnerabilities in the firmware of Lenovo laptops.
According to expert estimates, the threat has been found on hundreds of Lenovo computer models. At the same time, the number of potential victims of hackers is even greater – their number is measured in the millions.
With the first two vulnerabilities, attackers could disable SPI flash protection and secure UEFI boot. Third, it lets you run malicious code remotely.
For example, dangerous breaches in the system can cause malware to be launched during the computer’s boot process, even before it is transmitted to the computer operating system.
It turns out that hackers with the appropriate skills can bypass almost any security measure.
ESET experts recommended Lenovo computer users to install all available security patches. It is not superfluous to visit the manufacturer’s website to check the list of sensitive devices and get recommendations from experts.
