The Russian subsidiary of Swedish telecommunications equipment manufacturer Ericsson has signed an agreement to sell its customer support business to the company owned by the former local government.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to the company’s statement.

“The agreement provides for the transfer of approximately 40 Ericsson employees, as well as certain assets and contracts related to this business. The customer service business does not include the transfer of equipment, software or related services to mobile operators in Russia.” aforementioned.

Ericsson announced the suspension of operations and deliveries to customers in Russia in April. The company also announced a regular liquidation in accordance with applicable sanctions.

It was noted that about 400 Ericsson employees in Russia were laid off and left the company in connection with the cessation of operations.

In 2023, Ericsson plans to have a small presence in the Russian Federation. According to the press release, an Ericsson-owned entity will manage the processes related to the completion of the liquidation of the business.

As Ukrinform reported, Holcim, the world’s largest manufacturer of building materials, sold its business in Russia to the local government, which will continue to operate under a different brand.
