TikTok has already confirmed a limited test among users and has been working for several weeks. This brings the social network even closer to one of its main competitors, now YouTube. The big difference between TikTok and YouTube is that the former focuses on portrait videos and creators have to create separate videos for both platforms.
If this full-screen mode means creators can now create a single video optimized for both platforms, we may soon see longer videos on TikTok that are usually only available on YouTube.
TikTok’s horizontal full-screen testing is linked to testing the in-app purchase feature. TikTok Shop will allow users to purchase products without leaving the app and is already available in regions like the US and Indonesia.
