It’s increasingly apparent that with Windows 11, Microsoft intends to make major changes to the way operating system updates are handled. After several years of Windows 10 trying to keep up with two major annual updates, it turned out that there wasn’t enough time to thoroughly test them before they were released, leading to some of them, like Windows 10 2004, being huge pains heads for Microsoft and its users.

The first approach in this regard was to keep two annual updates, but one should be smaller and reserve major changes for the other. This is how we saw it in 2021 with Windows 10 21H1 and 21H2, and everything indicated that this model will be maintained, at least in the short and medium term, with Windows 11. While waiting to confirm whether it will actually be like this, Microsoft A few months ago he pulled out a surprise from his pocket, which represents a significant change from what we expected.

I’m referring, of course, to the Moments we’re talking about here, which are basically minor updates (albeit in some cases with much-anticipated news) that come out independently of the H1 and H2 shows. As you may remember, Microsoft started the rollout of Windows 11 22H2 at the end of September, but some of the news we expected in this update didn’t come with it until the Moments 1 publication that came out a month later, until the end of October.

Not much is known about Moments 2 yet, despite the fact that we’ve already seen it in action and it’s rumored to be coming to Windows 11 next March. And now, as we can read in MSPowerUser, Microsoft is already working on Moments 3 for Windows 11, which will reach users in Mayjust two months after the scheduled date of Moments 2.

This is very interesting, because if you confirm these dates and the sources are reliable, we may not have a Windows 11 Spring Update next year, because the March and May time frame when the following Moments will be published will overlap with the dates when we might expect such an update .

On the other hand, the time gap (waiting for data confirmation) is somewhat surprising, since five months will pass between Moments 1 and Moments 2, while between Moments 2 and Moments 3 we will have to wait only two. Given the time frames required in this type of process, which are quite long, it seems that this new model will really provide much more momentum for the arrival of new features and innovations in Windows 11, at least a priori and if they manage to better deal with the problem of bugs in them, what they are still fumbling with, as we saw today, it can be an interesting improvement of the operating system.
