The iPhone 14’s satellite SOS feature helped save tourists who fell into the canyon by car. This is reported by the Android Authority portal.
The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a mountain canyon about 100 meters off the highway in the Los Angeles National Forest. After the fall, the young couple managed to get out of the vehicle, but could not use the phone due to miscommunication in the canyon.
The victims then sent an SOS signal on the iPhone 14 using satellite communication. Having received the signal, the call center gave the rescuers the exact coordinates of the victims, and then, thanks to the air rescue team, the couple was found. Those with moderate injuries were taken to hospital. Nothing threatens their lives anymore.
Emergency Assistance is currently an exclusive feature of the iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and Pro Max. The innovation began operating in the US and Canada in the fall. Apple soon launched Emergency SOS satellite communications in some European countries.
