Last April, much to the delight of many, we learned that Crystal Dynamics was working on a new installment of Tomb Raider, one of the most iconic sagas in all of video game history and one of the first to make the leap from gaming. PC to the big screen, although it’s true that its already numerous film adaptations have never reached the level of the best titles we’ve been able to enjoy on PC and consoles since the debut of the first of its installments, way back in 1996 , that is, an incredible 26 years ago.

Since then, if memory serves, there have been at least thirteen games starring Lara Croft, excluding smartphone exclusives and the like, while the franchise has passed from hand to hand, some with more success than others. , causing some Tomb Raider to be welcomed with open arms by the public and critics, while others were relegated to a discreet background as they fell short of the task required by a historical saga such as this one.

We know very little about Crystal Dynamics’ development at this point, other than that it’s in its early stages, so we’ll have to wait a long time for it to arrive, and is developed with Unreal Engine 5, because the announcement of the game happened precisely in connection with the official launch of the development environment of Epic Games. And we can also count on the fact that it is not related to the three previous titles, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, which was released in 2018 and which completed the trilogy started by Tomb Raider and its sequel Rise of the Tomb Raider.

Be that as it may, even if we will have to wait a long time before we can enjoy it, these types of releases are managed with a relatively long time, which also serves to be in the spotlight of news from the first moment. So if we learned in April that the studio was already working on it, now Amazon has confirmed the deal with Crystal Dynamics, making Amazon Games will publisher from the next installment of Tomb Raider.

After the success that Amazon Games achieved with New World and the recent announcement at The Game Awards that it will be responsible for the arrival of Blue Protocol to the Western market, Amazon Games scored another goal on the scoreboard by taking over the distribution of the highly anticipated game by the community. Amazon is already known to do it in style when they decide to launch, and the addition of Tomb Raider to their catalog is a perfect example of that.
