The number of cyber-attacks on the Internet resources of officials and media in Ukraine has tripled compared to last year. But Ukraine successfully repelled them.

This was announced during a briefing organized by Yuriy Shchyhol, head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, Ukrinform reported.

“Today, there is a threefold increase in cyber attacks compared to last year. Instead, their quality has decreased recently. Because the enemy does not have as much time to prepare them as before, because now he spends his time mostly in self-defense. “We have seen that it is not as perfect as the country. Therefore, today it can be said that Ukraine has successfully repelled cyber attacks from the Russian Federation, “he said.

According to him, the authorities’ internet resources and media resources are currently the most attacked, and there have been several attempts to attack energy and logistics companies.

“In cyberspace, the Russians pursue the same goals as their looters: to do as much damage as possible to the state and infrastructure, mostly civilians, where citizens suffer the most. Therefore, we emphasize once again: follow the simple rules of cyber hygiene – use strong passwords, change them regularly. Do not open suspicious messages and links, “- said the head of the State Special Service.

As reported, the Steering Committee meeting of the NATO Advanced Technology Joint Center in Cyber Defense (OCPTC) was held in early April. Representatives of the 27 sponsoring members of the Executive Committee voted unanimously to recognize Ukraine as a contributor to NATO’s Joint Center for Advanced Technology in Cyber Defense. Ukraine made a formal request to join the OCPTC on August 4, 2021.
