Google is stepping on the accelerator in artificial intelligence

I know that the claim that Google is stepping on the accelerator in artificial intelligence can be interpreted to mean that the search engine company has taken it very easy until now, so the first thing to be clear is that this is not the case. In fact, the presence of artificial intelligence in technology products and services is more than evident. From its dedicated solutions like TensorFlow to the photo post-processing features found in the Google Pixel, artificial intelligence has been a priority for Google for some time.

However, there are other services for the general public that are created with popularity and hand in hand with the preferences of all potential customers. Examples like GPT 3 or the latest ChatGPT in relation to text, DALL-E 2, Stable diffusion and Midjourney in creating images and many other examples in many other areas have made Google’s visibility in this area much less than they would like.

This is a problem precisely because of what I hinted at in the previous paragraph: other tech companies are making a name for themselves in the AI market, a market where we can expect exponential growth in the short to medium term, and being the first to arrive is not a guarantee nothing, it provides plus prestige, which can be key when choosing between arranging one or another service.

However, it seems alarm bells have been set off at Google’s offices with ChatGPT. As we can read in 9to5Google Google has reassigned members of several corporate teams to work on AI projects. A movement that would be launched by the company’s CEO Sundar Pichai himself and with which he intends to present new services and projects based on AI in the short and medium term.

«In between Google’s big conference in May, teams across Google’s research, trust and security departments and other departments have been redeployed to help develop and bring new AI prototypes and products to market.»

The conference, given the given date, we can assume that it will be Google I/O 2023, since the annual meeting for Google developers always takes place between May and June, and given the nature of this change in strategy, it seems like an ideal context for a presentation in which artificial intelligence excels above all else.
