At the end of 2022, we are getting new information about the next generation of Apple products that should be released in 2023. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), one of Apple’s largest partners, will hold an exhibition in the coming days to celebrate the start of commercial production of 3nm chips at its factory, according to a new report. This is important because it will mark the beginning of the company’s development of a new 3nm process, a technology Apple has never trusted before.

TSMC has recently expanded its US operations and plans to open two new factories in Arizona. Earlier in the month, Apple CEO Tim Cook talked about the new factories and how the two companies will work together to start producing chips in the US. Both factories in Arizona will be able to produce 3nm and 4nm chips. However, neither TSMC nor Apple specifically said which products would use these chips.

While Apple’s current A16 Bionic processor is pretty good, it was recently revealed that the company had to cut some graphics enhancements to the chip because it didn’t meet the standards. According to the report, Apple planned to improve the chip’s GPU, but eventually the overclocking, which proved to consume too much power, was deemed unacceptable and canceled. Let’s hope Apple doesn’t run into similar issues for its upcoming 3nm chips, as this could be a big year for the iPhone as it announces the move to USB-C ports.
