Death Stranding Director’s Cut is free for one day at Epic Games. Reddit users drew attention to this.

Gamers noticed that earlier the game service announced a free Christmas gift of the base version of Death Stranding by Hideo Kojima. At the same time, the director’s version of the title, which was in the store for a fee, was actually distributed. According to enthusiasts, the game can be downloaded for free in one day.

Epic Games later noticed the problem and closed the lottery. In a message posted on the Chinese social network Weibo, whose translation is available on Reddit, the company said the director gave his share of Death Stranding by accident. According to service representatives, the mistake was made by an intern who downloaded the Death Stranding Director’s Cut for free. “We apologize to everyone who did not receive Director’s Edit and we are very sorry”says message.

The company also noted that due to the agreement with the rights holder, the director will not be able to provide the editing of the game for free. The original version of Death Stranding was released in November 2019, while the director’s version was released in the fall of 2021.
