Milton Keynes University Hospital (UK) will test drug delivery to patients by a penguin-like robot.
Daily Mail reports this, as reported by Ukrinform.
The hospital expects a robot named Milton to help medical facility staff deliver essential medicines to patients faster without the physical assistance of doctors.
The device itself is said to use sonar and LiDAR technology to get around obstacles like people, wheelchairs and hospital beds.
Milton has already been able to move from point A to point B at the hospital, but next year he will begin distributing drugs on specific routes.
Feedback from the trial will be used to decide whether it can be safely applied to other hospitals.
“How people feel when interacting with technology is also particularly important in the hospital,” said William Sachiti, founder and CEO of Milton developer Academy of Robotics.
As reported by Ukrinform, a robotic surgeon developed in China successfully performed a knee replacement surgery on a patient.
