As every year, the awards were presented by experts in sustainability, environment, social affairs and governance (ESG). As such, the SEAL Awards honor the most significant sustainability initiatives and the best companies driving environmental progress. In addition to Samsung, companies such as P&G, sodexo and Disneyland resort were also awarded.

According to Matt Harney, founder of the SEAL Awards, about 640,000 tons of fishing gear are thrown into the ocean each year, directly impacting marine life and coral reefs.

Galaxy devices made from discarded fishing nets
According to an official statement released this week, Samsung said it has begun using redesigned fishing nets on the Galaxy S22 5G series. Thus, the company used the collected material in projects of the entire Galaxy ecosystem, including tablets, laptops and headphones. Samsung also said that it has created a new material from recycled plastic from the ocean, maintaining quality standards.
The company also said it is committed to developing and using recycled materials in all of its new products, phasing out single-use plastic in packaging, with the ultimate goal of achieving zero standby power for all smartphone chargers and removing all waste from landfills by 2025. .
