At CES 2023, Peugeot unveiled its vision for the future of electric vehicles. The company introduced Inception, a concept electric sedan with panoramic windows and sunroof. Inception uses an 800 volt, 100 kWh, 680 hp battery. and will serve as a model for the following Peugeot electric vehicles.

As the name Inception (a word derived from the Latin Inceptio, meaning “beginning”) suggests, the electric sedan epitomizes the company’s vision for the next generation of electric vehicles. With a 100 kWh battery, the Inception has a range of 800 km, and in just 5 minutes of charging it can travel 150 km. In addition, the car can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. According to Peugeot, the car can also be charged via induction, eliminating the need for cables.

New steering wheel for electric vehicles

The electric car concept will also debut with a new steering wheel, replacing the round model with a rectangular one called Hypersquare. The steering wheel has a central display that provides the driver with important vehicle information. According to Peugeot, the center display can be customized to make it easier for the user to control various aspects of the car with their thumbs while driving.

The company won the 2023 Electric Vehicle of the Year category from Autoesporte with the Peugeot e-2008 and aims to stay at the forefront of innovation in the segment with future models built from the ground up. You the first models based on the new design should be launched in 2025.

Although the prototype is a sedan, the manufacturer has also made it clear that the Inception will serve as the basis for all of the company’s future electric vehicles. So we can expect several models with the new Hypersquare steering wheel, 100 kWh batteries and great autonomy in addition to induction charging technology.
