The iPhone 16 Pro will be the first to integrate Face ID under the screen

The notch has become one of the great hallmarks of the iPhone, as well as one of its most criticized features. With the arrival of the iPhone 14 Pro and its older brother, the Pro Max, Apple managed to shrink it and shape what we know as the Dynamic Island, an oval space that could disappear completely with the arrival of the iPhone 16 Pro.

A report published in The Elec, a fairly reliable South Korean media, points in this direction and also leaves us with another interesting piece of information that we previously told you that Apple is going to expand the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 15, which means It will no longer be an exclusivity limited to “Pro” models.

This is unofficially confirmed for the orders the Apple company would make to Samsung Display and for the equipment it would buy to make Dynamic Island-compatible screens, the news source said. We can almost certainly say that the iPhone 15 will finally say goodbye to the notch, although we do not expect major design changes for this new terminal.

below the screen

Interesting, but undoubtedly the most important thing about this information is that it points to integration of the Face ID interface under the screen on the iPhone 16 Pro. This is not confirmed, it is a prediction from The Elec, but the truth is that it makes a lot of sense, because in the end it will be another natural move for Apple to continue improving the design of its famous smartphone, and with the advances that have been made. Such an integration would be perfectly feasible without major sacrifices in the quality and reliability of this facial recognition technology.

Considering the amount of interest the Dynamic Island has generated, I think it’s obvious that an iPhone 16 Pro without a notch or floating islands could “crash” the market, and it would eventually generate so much interest that it could become one of Apple’s best-selling terminals. On the other hand, it would also put Apple in a truly unique position, as it would be one of the few manufacturers to have a “true” full-screen smartphone on the market.

We will see if this information is confirmed or not, although we can be sure that the iPhone 15 will “democratize” Dynamic Island. Its release is scheduled for September of this yearand according to multiple sources, the first phase of production in the test phase will begin soon. Subsequently, the serial production phase will start.
