The newly discovered planet, named TOI 700 e, is part of the TOI 700 system and is 95% the size of Earth and possibly rocky.
NASA was able to detect the planet thanks to analysis of data collected by its own Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS).
Earlier it was noted that the American space agency discovered three planets in one system – TOI 700 b, c and d. Planet e is also in the star’s so-called habitable zone.
NASA said TOI 700 e is about 10% smaller than planet TOI 700 d. The newly discovered planet takes 28 days to orbit its star called TOI 700, a small red dwarf star located about 100 light-years from Earth.
