Windows 7 has a new broken feature

At the end of Windows 7 support (January 10, 2023), Microsoft released an update that adds a broken feature to the legacy operating system. This has been reported by Neowin.

The new feature is called Secure Boot, which is part of the UEFI system that includes various security options for pre-installed programs. Secure Boot prevents Windows installation versions from containing programs not licensed by Microsoft or PC and laptop manufacturers.

At Neowin, Microsoft’s decision to add Secure Boot functionality to the “dying” Windows 7 was unexpected and strange. The implementation of this function caused even more questions from journalists.

According to Neowin, Windows 7 freezes when PC restarts after Secure Boot is enabled. According to reporters, the problem is in the VGA video output drivers that have not been updated with Windows 7.
