After the 2022 edition, the 2023 Golden Globes went back to “normal” to forget. And not just because of the COVID pandemic. Hollywood itself has punished those considered “Oscar frontrunners” for their lack of diversity, with accusations of bribery and even harassment. Sure, these movie and series awards and the galas that accompany them they lose interestbut the Golden Globes have already crossed the red line, so much so that even the winners themselves were embarrassed to win the award.

A new life… partly because there is still a long way to go to overcome the 80 years of “tradition” of the Globes, where anyone who wasn’t white, American and Anglo-Saxon had it raw. To begin with, comedian Jerrod Carmichael was chosen as the emcee for the gala. the first black in 79 years because he was in charge of memorizing without mincing words on his first appearance. “I’m here for black people, this association didn’t have a black member until George Floyd died. Suddenly you are invited to become the black face of a white organization, the first of 79 editions,” he said, to immediately try to break with the past and open a new path: “Whatever the Golden Globes have been, we’re here to celebrate an industry that deserves nights like this”.
