DiskStation DS723+ is a new NAS developed by Synology to facilitate the implementation of centralized storage systems in home offices and small businesses and for use as an edge node in distributed deployments.

DiskStation DS723+, small but competent

WITH two storage spaces It’s the smallest of the manufacturer’s ‘Plus’ range, but with more data it can be expanded to seven with the DX517 expansion unit. Like his other models, it stands out for its balance between functions, capacity and price, and for its versatility of use in different scenarios. Supports 3.5″ or 2.5″ SATA hard drives and hot-swappable M.2 2280 SSDs.

This model is equipped with an AMD Ryzen R1600 processor with a hardware encryption core (AES-NI). The Synology includes 2GB of DDR4 RAM expandable up to 32GB, plus extensive connectivity with two 1GbE Ethernet ports, USB, and M.2 SSD installation slots that act as a data cache.

Its high performance, with sequential read/write data transfer up to 471/225 MB/s. This level of performance can be increased by using an additional 10GbE network connection via an additional PCIe slot and by adding the aforementioned NVMe SSDs that enable caching.

As with all NAS, Synology includes free DiskStationManager (DSM), one of the best NAS operating systems on the market, accompanied by a large number of applications for all kinds of tasks.
