By Easter, hostile cyberattacks may intensify – State Special Service

Ukraine’s State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection warned of an intensification of hostile cyberattacks on Easter.

The agency noted that not all Ukrainians can celebrate the holiday in the family circle with family and friends, many will receive greetings virtually via various messengers or email.

“The State Special Communications Service warns: The enemy can use it to try new cyber attacks. As we have seen many times before, offensive hackers often use current and sensitive topics that are the most “touching” for Ukrainians. Take care not to become a victim of cybercriminals.

Experts advise not to follow any links from strangers. Do not open attachments sent in emails from unknown addresses. Although at first glance these may seem like ordinary greeting cards or holiday videos.

Such messages sent from acquaintances should also be approached with caution. Even your loved ones may not know that they are unintentionally distributing a malicious link or attachment, or their account may be hacked by cybercriminals.

“Don’t spread questionable information yourself from unknown sources. Make sure your social media accounts are as secure as possible. Set up a two-step login check. This will protect you from trying to hack. Beware of mail with promises of cash or other “vacation benefits”. check this kind of information,” he said.

As Ukrinform reported, the Ministry of Defense urged Ukrainians to be especially vigilant on Easter, follow curfew rules and monitor services online, due to possible hostile provocations.
