In 2021, at a time when communications between Earth and China’s Mars probe “Tianwen-1” were unstable, he and the European Space Agency’s Mars Express helped scientists learn more about phenomena occurring near the Sun.

This was reported by Ukrinform with reference to Xinhua.

From late September to mid-October 2021, the connection between the Mars probe “Tianwen-1” and Earth was interrupted by solar radiation caused by an astronomical phenomenon in which Mars and Earth move in opposite directions. The edges of the sun form a straight line with it

During this phenomenon, “Tianwen-1” and Mars Express periodically sent signals, making it possible to observe the effect of the Sun on these signals with the help of radio telescopes from Earth.

A paper recently published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters reports that a coronal mass ejection was observed on the Sun on October 9, 2021, when the Red Planet’s near-Sun projection point was 2.6 solar radii from the Sun’s center. Powerful parasite lasting 10 minutes

Also, according to the results of research conducted under the guidance of scientists from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, coronal waves were detected near the projection point – a phenomenon that reflects how the magnetic field restrains the solar wind.

The scientists also observed a high-velocity primary solar wind at the moment the coronal mass ejections stopped. According to the results of the study, the high-speed solar wind was detected much closer to the Sun than expected.

The Tianwen-1 probe, consisting of an orbiter, a lander, and a rover, was launched on July 23, 2020.
