The launch of the Ryzen 7000 was undoubtedly one of the most important events of the past year. However, the absence of cheap AM5 motherboards it took its toll on AMD and meant that the adoption rate of this new generation of processors was not as good as previous generations.
The truth is that this is completely normal, because eventually the costs of jumping to this new platform represents a considerable investmentand since the Ryzen 5000 is still on the market at very interesting prices, many users have preferred to upgrade their equipment with one of these processors, or even build a new PC based on the AM4 platform, which, frankly, still has a lot of life ahead of it.

With the arrival of non-X Ryzen 7000 processors, a family that runs at a slightly lower frequency and has a lower price, AMD has brought its new generation of CPUs closer to users with tighter budgets, but the key to the full democratization of Zen 4 architecture it will be in the budget of AM5 motherboards that will hit the market equipped with the A620 chipset.
Thanks to a listing that appeared in ECC, we were able to confirm that the launch of cheap AM5 motherboards soon it will be a reality, and that GIGABYTE will not only be one of the big companies that will bet on these motherboards from the beginning, but will also offer a wide range of models. These are the ones we have been able to confirm so far:
- GIGABYTE A620M D3H.
- GIGABYTE A620M DS3H.
- GIGABYTE A620M S2H.
- GIGABYTE A620M H.
- GIGABYTE A620M K.

We also know that ASUS is preparing the TUF GAMING A620M-PLUS D5, although we don’t have specific details at the moment because A620 chipset specifications they did not exceed Overall, we can expect fewer PCIe lanes compared to the B650 chipset, support for the PCIe Gen4 standard, a more modest power supply, two to four DDR5 memory slots, and also fewer USB ports. This chipset won’t support overclocking either, but we can use AMD EXPO profiles to increase the RAM.
When it comes to price, it’s likely that there are cheap AM5 motherboards out there between 100 and 120 euros, a figure that would allow us to significantly reduce the cost of building a new PC with Ryzen 7000. If everything goes according to plan, the first boards with the A620 chipset should arrive by the end of the first quarter of this year.
