ERA-GLONASS reported on the growth of its popularity among motorists

The operator of the ERA-GLONASS system notes a strong increase in the number of calls to it in connection with road emergencies. In the past year, the number of emergency calls has increased by more than one and a half times.

– The number of emergency calls received by the ERA-GLONASS system from motorists in 2022 increased by 57% compared to last year – to 12.5 million, – reports the system operator GLONASS JSC.

The average daily number of requests in 2022 increased from 21,600 in 2021 to 35,700. In addition, the total number of messages since the implementation of ERA-GLONASS (since 2015) has now reached 30 million. Typically, 200,000 signals from the messages requiring the intervention of emergency services were sent automatically activating SOS blocks installed in cars, when the people in the affected vehicles were unable to call for help themselves.

And by the way, in the first half of January 2023 alone, the ERA has already received and processed almost 500,000 alarms.
