Microsoft plans to lay off thousands of jobs and cut some positions.
This was reported by Reuters, Ukrinform reports.
Microsoft is expected to lay off about 11,000 workers, 5% of the company’s staff. The company plans to lay off workers in a number of engineering divisions and recruiting divisions.
The announced layoffs are related to the slowdown in demand for digital services and the worsening global economic outlook.
“Looking at the big picture, another wave of layoffs at Microsoft shows that the situation in the digital industry is not improving, but is likely getting worse,” said Morningstar analyst Dan Romanoff.
According to available data, as of June 30, 2022, the company has 221,000 full-time employees, of which 122,000 are in the United States.
As previously reported, mass layoffs have taken place at Amazon, Meta, Twitter, Microsoft, Salesforce and other tech giants.
