Our strength in unity: 4 apps and chatbots that helped Ukrainians during the war

The IT community also joined the movement. Shared with GlobalLogic editors 24 Channels several touching projects created for Ukrainians by the company’s developers or IT students.

Green Night and Pro Night night vision applications

His passion for photography helped developer Viktor Pobedri create night vision apps Green Night and Pro Night. With the start of hostilities, they became quite popular: these programs came in handy for light camouflage in the city (where it was forbidden to turn on the lights) and for TRO fighters during patrols.

The Green Night app was very popular with over 40,000 downloads. After its success, I decided to create a more powerful version, Pro Night, and I plan to transfer half of the funds collected from the new application to the needs of the Armed Forces. He received thanks from the Military Science Department of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for this development,
– said GlobalLogic iOS Software Engineer Viktor Pobedrya.

The applications work on the principle of signal amplification: they are effective in night street conditions, but not in a completely dark room (where there is nothing to amplify). The Pro Night version allows you to zoom 20x, adjust the brightness and FPS level, and take pictures.

beAware Explosive Device Detection Application

Russian aggression leaves many deadly shells and mines on the territory of Ukraine every day. Some never erupted, which posed a threat to peaceful residents. So that Ukrainians can recognize explosive objects, student Roman Koropetskyi developed it in collaboration with a friend. be aware.

The purpose of creating beAware is to ensure the movement of civilians, to protect their lives and health.

The application was presented for the first time at the AI summer school organized by the Lviv National University in cooperation with the Lviv Computing Cluster.

Unfortunately, our project did not materialize. But later a similar official application appeared. I’m glad the author found out and brought our idea to life,

Help delivery site HelpMeUA

In a crisis situation, simple solutions are decisive. In any case, that’s what Oleksandr Lutsyuk thought in the early days of the war. He turned his desire to help as many people as possible into the HelpMeUA app.

My story isn’t about invention, it’s about helping. Since me and my friends are related to IT, we joined forces to create a web application. Our site is called HelpMeUA, you can go by following the link. This web application was created at the beginning of the war to help anyone in need as soon as possible. Therefore, you do not need to register, verify your identity and create an account on our website. Everything is built on trust, which is most important in moments like these.
– At GlobalLogic, Lawyer Developer Oleksandr Lutsyuk stated.

The site is really simple: you can post a request or an ad for help in a few clicks without registration. Search is performed by location, tags, or chapters. If a post contains unverified information, it can be reported.

Thanks to its ease of use and intuitive interface, HelpMeUA has really found its target audience. According to Oleksandr and his team, the web application is used by approximately 200 unique users per month. And the total number of posts (requests and offers for assistance) is 766.

The site remains relevant even now. And its developers hope all HelpMeUA users get the help they need.

Chatbot @SumkaRegionBot

Chatbot is designed to assist residents of Sumy Oblast. The program helps you find open pharmacies, gas stations, stores and lets you report an emergency.

It all started in the first weeks of the war, when a group of volunteers contacted Vladyslav Babich with a request to create an informational chatbot. With their support, the @SumkaRegionBot program was developed in Telegram messenger.

As it turned out later, the chatbot was really useful: many people turned to it as a reference on various topics. It continues to be used even now,
– says Vladyslav Babych.

In addition to the functions mentioned above, the program contributes to the support of IDPs and provides information on psychological assistance, evacuation transport and volunteer initiatives.

The Ukrainians really came together with the start of the war and showed the whole world how we know how to protect and support each other. All the apps we chose are the initiative of each developer who decided to help Ukraine and Ukrainians with what he knows and does best – code. Or solutions that will improve the lives of people on the planet. And similar initiatives of each of us, small or large, only accelerate our victory and strengthen our inner resilience and faith in a bright future.
