The Redmond giant has confirmed a new movement that it hopes will improve the quality of Windows 11 drivers, something very important because the user experience and performance of the mentioned operating system very dependent on drivers. Something as simple as a small error at the driver level can cause performance drops, freezes, temporary freezes and app closes to blue screens of death.

Microsoft’s idea is divided into two parts, although the basis, as we said, is to improve the quality of Windows 11 drivers. analyze Software Digital Rights Management (SWDRM) catalog reload events.which will help solve issues related to important aspects such as the driver timeout when playing software-based DRM content, which is crucial in services like Netflix and other similar media streaming applications.

On the other hand, Microsoft also wants to improve Windows 11 drivers reducing the error rate of sound drivers, and for this they will adjust the breakdown counting mechanism, as in some cases it could cause measurement errors, which meant that sound drops were not counted correctly during the rating process. To better understand this issue, it is important to check what Microsoft commented:

«When audio APO (Audio Processing Object) fails at least 10 times in a row, the audio service disables further use APO to give the user a flawless audio experience. This can cause our audio glitch measurement to fail momentarily when sending the driver, and then start failing again when the APO causing the issue when sending the driver is disabled. This metric tracks APO deactivation over the past 7 days for devices using audio that day (audio client initialization event).

Over the past few years, there have been driver-level failures in Windows 10 without a doubt one of the most important problems which Microsoft had to deal with and Windows 11 is no exception, so it is quite understandable that the company decided to take action in this regard. We will see what the effects will be and if it will actually improve the current situation.
