The Lenovo 500e Yoga Chromebook is the most interesting model four new models introduced by a Chinese company with the operating system Chrome OS. They are aimed primarily at the educational market, but will also be available in other channels for the average consumer looking for this type of product.
Chromebooks are today best supported linux laptops from major PC manufacturers and an alternative to what comes from Windows and macOS in almost all areas of use. There is a fairly large offer, to which we add a new product from Lenovo.
Yippee convertible based on IPS touch screen 12.2-inch with a native resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, 300 nits brightness, stylus support and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. Like all Yogas, it has a hinge that allows the screen to rotate up to 360 degrees to facilitate different modes of use, from tablet to laptop through presentation mode.
Lenovo introduced new processors Intel N presented at CES 2023 and which are specifically designed for use in this type of low-cost PC. It is accompanied by 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 128 GB of storage in eMMC format. In terms of connectivity, it supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5, as well as support for 4G broadband networks and a USB Type-C port, 1 HDMI 1.4, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A and an audio jack.
It also includes a webcam with privacy shutter and a 5-megapixel rear camera for taking photos or videos. Its weight is contained in 1.31 kg with a 47 Wh battery. A good example of a modern, basic and inexpensive convertible for Google’s PC operating system. It will be available during the first quarter of 2023 without defining the official price.
In portable form, the size is the largest of the new Lenovo Chromebooks 14 inch screen and the possibility of several panels up to IPS with FHD resolution. You can equip Intel N100, N200 or Core i3-N305 processors with 8 GB of LPDDR5 memory and 128 GB of storage in eMMC format. It supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5 and besides Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5 it has a good number of ports, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, 1 x HDMI 2.0, SD card reader and a 3.5mm audio jack. Its battery has a capacity of 57 Wh with a total weight of 57 Wh.
The the two most basic models of those presented, it shares the internal hardware based on the MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor with 4 or 8 GB of LPDDR4x memory and 32/64 GB for eMMC storage. They support Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth and optional 4G broadband networks with a USB Type-C port, 1 HDMI 1.4, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A, an audio jack and a web camera.
The difference between the two models lies in their format. The first is portable and the second is convertible, both with the same screen size: 11.6 inches with HD resolution and stylus support. They should be very economical with this configuration.
