The Radeon RX 7700 XT will be a mid-range graphics card with which AMD will cover a very important line in the general consumer graphics sector. In previous leaks, we had the opportunity to see its possible specifications, but after seeing that the RDNA3 architecture didn’t double the number of shaders per unit of calculation, it is clear that this information was wrong.

With everything, we are quite easy to adapt of this information to the reality of the RDNA3 architecture, which makes sense as the Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX specs turned out to be true after all, except for the detail that the number of shaders was accidentally doubled. i told you because we all thought AMD was going to increase the number of shaders per CU from 64 to 128.

Early reports said the Radeon RX 7700 XT would have 4,096 shaders, a number that will remain after this modification 2048 shaders. I also remind you that this graphics card will not use a multi-chip design like the Radeon RX 7900 XT and XTX, which means that all infinite cache will be integrated in the GPU silicon, meaning it will have a monolithic core design.

The Radeon RX 7700 XT would use the Navi 31 GPU

Possible specifications and performance of Radeon RX 7700 XT

  • Navi 33 XT graphics core made on a 6nm node.
  • 2048 shaders.
  • Frequency 1.9GHz-2.5GHz.
  • 128 TMU.
  • 64 ROPs.
  • 32 units of ray tracing acceleration.
  • 64 units of AI acceleration.
  • 192-bit bus.
  • 64 MB infinite cache.
  • 12 GB GDDR6 18 GHz memory.
  • Performance in FP32: 20.48 TFLOPs (thanks to the “dual issue” system capable of working with two simultaneous instructions).
  • You would need an 8 pin power connector and have a 220W TBP.

First of all, I want to remind you that there is another stream of information that assumes that the Radeon RX 7700 XT uit will use the Navi 32 core, a much higher chip that will have a maximum number of 3,840 shaders and which has a modular structure divided into a graphics core (GCD) and four chips with an infinite buffer memory (MCD). Nothing is confirmed, so both options are open. Overall, it seems more likely that AMD will reserve the Navi 32 core for the Radeon RX 7800 series.

As for the performance of the Radeon RX 7700 XT, if everything we just said is confirmed, its performance it would be more or less on par with the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti. It makes sense, especially when you consider that AMD’s high-end Radeon RX 7900 XT is almost on par with the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti.
