Last Tuesday (24) YouTube announced its program to create academic credit for American college students.

OUR College foundations was born from a partnership between Arizona State University (ASU) and educational video company crash course, who intendsdemystify the college process by creating an affordable way to earn academic credit“.

Study Hall, a student loan program for US students.

This program is part of the Study Hall platform, which has an official YouTube channel with just over 43,000 subscribers. The idea is that any student can participate without prior application or a minimum GPA (GPA) that is indicative of the student’s academic achievement. Through the platform, students will be able to accumulate credits equivalent to their first year at a public college. There will be four courses: Human Communication, Composition and Rhetoric, College Mathematics, and American History to 1865. Going forward, Study Hall hopes to expand to 12 courses by January 2025.

It’s free to watch the videos, but if you want to take part in the course, you’ll have to spend $25, something like R$137 at the current exchange rate. To receive credits, you must pay a fee of $400 per group of lessons to receive them. Registration must be made directly on the training room page and classes will begin on March 7, 2023.

Thus, academic credits are important for American students because they allow their learning to be quantified. They represent the time that students devote to studying. Each “credit” is equivalent to approximately 15 hours. And these credits are essential for a student’s education, with some opting for lectures, seminars, and extracurricular activities to earn more credits.
