The Tarantula Nebula is a massive star-forming region of ionized hydrogen located 161,000 light-years from Earth in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
What’s more, turbulent clouds of gas and dust can be seen among this region’s newly formed bright stars.
The Tarantula Nebula is said to be a familiar place for Hubble because it is the brightest star forming region in our galactic neighbors and is the “home” of the hottest and most massive stars known.

This object was discovered by French astronomer Nicolas Louis de Lacaille, who first observed the object in 1751.
