OnePlus, which was once a benchmark for the fastest Android launch, has taken a bit of a hit with its recent updates. When the company released the OxygenOS 13 firmware update based on Android 13, some OnePlus 9 devices refused to boot after the update. Because of this, OnePlus had to suspend the rollout of the update. As part of the refund, OnePlus has canceled the OxygenOS 13 update that crashes OnePlus 9 smartphones.

The final version of OxygenOS 13 caused some problems for OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro users when it was released in December 2022. Firmware patches labeled LE2111_11.F.19 for 9 and LE2121_11.F.19 for 9 Pro have prevented some phones from booting up properly. A member of the OnePlus software team on the community forum advised users not to install these updates.

OnePlus attributes the issue’s delayed announcement to last week’s Chinese New Year celebrations. The company has suspended distribution to minimize the damage, and affected users can contact a service center or use OnePlus’ mail-in repair service. The company promises to undo the changes without losing data.

The F.19 update included the January 2023 security patch, stability improvements to system apps, and bug fixes for Quick Look, Auto-Brightness, and Cellular. Although this software issue has some OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro owners worried, the company is gearing up for the highly anticipated OnePlus 11 launch on February 7. The event will also feature a host of new products such as the 11R, the anticipated OnePlus Pad tablet, mechanical keyboard with Keychron, and Buds Pro 2.
