Apple is working on reverse wireless charging technology for iPhone

While reverse wireless charging has already been spotted on Android smartphones from various brands, it seems Apple is still working on the technology and the latest report also hints at its arrival to the next-gen iPhone.

According to sources close to the subject, the Cupertino-based giant is trying to perfect reverse wireless charging technology for its iPhones. For those who don’t know, this technology actually turns your smartphone into a wireless charging pad, allowing you to charge other products that support wireless charging. This means your phone can charge another device that supports wireless charging or even TWS earphones with charging cases that support the same.

Sources added that the brand initially hopes to launch its reverse wireless charging technology on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. However, the company did not meet the deadline. It seems that Apple engineers are once again working hard to finalize wireless charging technology and optimize the software for it. Reverse wireless charging can also be called two-way wireless charging.

Notably, since the iPhone 12 series, Apple has included at least some elements that allow for reverse wireless charging. However, this feature is probably disabled on devices for various reasons. But once the company fully supports reverse wireless charging, we can expect the iPhone to be able to charge any Qi-enabled accessory. One of the best uses would probably involve charging AirPods.
