According to data from National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel), 2022 alone saw a 7% increase in block requests, equivalent to almost 1 million requests. This number clearly points to the need for more effective action against mobile phone crime.

Last year saw a significant number of requests to Anatel to ban IMEI – International Mobile Equipment Identity. This number has reached 930,765 requests, demonstrating the importance of protecting mobile phones. IMEI is a kind of “CPF” of the phone, allowing you to uniquely identify each mobile device. It is important to understand the importance of IMEI to the security of our devices.

Of this total, 768,000 were blocked by operators and 164,000 by public security agencies.

In 2021, Anatel received 864,849 ban requests, and this number rose to 930,765 in 2022. Of these requests, 672,532 were from mobile operators and 237,317 were from public security agencies.
