According to the KFTC, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi have all been exposed in a conspiracy that reduces competition in the South Korean auto market and limits consumer choice.

Mercedes-Benz was fined 20.7 billion won ($16.5 million), BMW 15.7 billion won ($12.5 million) and Audi 6 billion won (about $5 million).

Last year, Mercedes-Benz and its Korean unit were fined 20.2 billion won ($16 million) for false advertisements about diesel passenger car emissions.

As reported by Ukrinform, in 2020 the South Korean Ministry of Environmental Protection fined the South Korean division of German automaker Mercedes-Benz US$63.4 million for falsifying data on emissions from diesel cars.
