Let’s remind, on February 8, the head of SpaceX, Gwynn Shotwell, is not satisfied with the company’s use of Starlink for military purposes by the Ukrainian army, and therefore, allegedly, has already started taking measures to prevent this. Specifically, it was about limiting the ability to control drones using satellite internet. Shotwell says this use of technology goes beyond signed contracts. “There are things we can and are doing”– Reuters quoted his words.
What does Mykhailo Fedorov say about this?
The minister commented on the situation and said that it is now. Starlink satellite communication terminals of the American SpaceX in Ukraine are working without any new problems.
Currently there are no problems with the operation of Starlink terminals in Ukraine,
– says Fedorov.
As such, it remains unclear what steps SpaceX is currently taking, as Shotwell talks about these limitations for the Armed Forces as a completed reality, not an announcement for the future.
Mykhailo Fedorov also noted that Elon Musk is one of the largest private donors to Ukraine’s future victory. “We estimate SpaceX’s contribution is more than $100 million. We hope Starlink will operate more steadily in Ukraine”added the minister.
According to him, on February 9, Ukraine received a new batch of Starlink with several thousand terminals. This is the first part of 10,000 devices purchased by Germany.
