According to the official specifications published by MediaTek, the new Helio G36 chip has eight ARM Cortex-A53 cores works with frequency up to 2.2 GHz. To make a comparison, MediaTek Helio G37 works with clock up to 2.3 GHz. Both chips also have the same GPU. IMG PowerVR GE8320which runs at clock speed up to 680 MHz.
Like the Helio G37, the new MediaTek Helio G36 chipset supports up to 8 GB RAM standards-based LPDDR3 operates at clock speeds up to 933 MHz and LPDDR4X operates at a clock frequency of 1600 MHz. Both chips also support storage based on the eMMC (Embedded Multimedia Card) 5.1 standard, which is significantly slower than the latest versions of the UFS (Universal Flash Storage) standard.
For gamers, the new MediaTek chipset comes with support for a suite of technologies. MediaTek HyperEngine 2.0 Lite. This also includes Resource Management Engine 2.0, which promises to intelligently and dynamically regulate CPU, memory, and GPU usage so as not to compromise the user experience when running games.

The new chipset announced this Monday by MediaTek supports screens with Full HD+ resolution (2400 x 1080) and update frequency up to 90 Hz. In addition, it also supports video playback based on H.264 and H.265 (HEVC) codecs. As for video encoding, it only supports the H.264 codec and Full HD (1080p) resolution at 30 fps. Nothing really different from the MediaTek Helio G37.

For cameras, the MediaTek Helio G36 chipset supports sensor configurations 50 MP (15 fps), 25 MP (30 fps) and 13 MP + 13 MP (30 fps). Features supported by the cameras include AI Image Enhancement, AI Album Creation, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC), which improves image capture when the subject moves, and more.
