Officials in the Netherlands want to ban TikTok on their work phones

In the Netherlands, lawmakers want to ban civil servants from using TikTok on their work phones.

“Officers in the Netherlands should not use TikTok on their work phones. This is the view of the majority of MPs,” the report said.

Lawmakers are concerned about data protection and access to information for employees of the Chinese company, which is the developer of the program.

“Potentially high security risks … Let’s be careful and ban TikTok on officers’ work phones,” said Hind Dekker-Abdulaziz, MP of the “D66” party in particular. CDA (Christian Democratic Party) MP Evert-Jan Slotweg called for following the US example. “We must not be naive, we must follow the path of the American government,” he said.
