The regional social non-profit organization “Bukovynsky Clinical Oncology Center” received a device for the virtual presence of a doctor next to a patient. Now patients can get consultations from oncologists in Europe and the USA without having to travel abroad.
The general director of the center, Ihor Malyshevskyi, told Suspilny about this in a comment.
“The cancer center in Chernivtsi received a device for a doctor to be virtually next to the patient – the TelaDoc robot. Thanks to this device, oncologists from Europe and the USA can consult with patients to diagnose or adjust treatment,” he said.
According to Malyshevsky, the cancer center has joined the TelaDoc Health online medical advice network. The robot also makes it possible to be online during complex surgical interventions. In addition, the device can be used to help diagnose and select treatment tactics for complex cases. In particular, follow-up examination, type of operation, type of treatment, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgical consultations.
Equipment was provided as humanitarian aid.
As reported by Ukrinform, World Cancer Day, which was declared in 2005 by the International Union Against Cancer, is celebrated on February 4 every year.
