The start of Diablo IV’s open beta phase is for many one of the most anticipated moments of the year, and there are more than enough reasons. For starters, it’s a title that fans of the saga have been waiting years for, not only because of how long this type of development usually takes under normal circumstances, but also because of another series of issues that led Blizzard to further delay its development and launch. The wait has become eternal for many.
It also happens that what we’ve learned about Diablo IV in recent years has been really promising. Over a year ago, we found out that Blizzard was working with the premise of an infinite, eternal game, that is, an experience that each player could extend for as long as they wanted, which is promising, right? And shortly after that we got more specific data, such as that it will have more than 150 dungeons and 5 regions.
Even closer in time, in September of last year, along with the leak of several videos of its development, we finally got official confirmation about the plans for the various beta stages of Diablo IV, such as the closed beta f&f ( friends & family) was already underway, that the closed beta final version will open soon and that the more than expected open beta will arrive sometime in 2023. No data, yes.
So, because of these leaks, we knew at the end of last year that Diablo IV was coming out on June 5th, but we still didn’t know the open beta dates, which is a bit confusing, isn’t it? Finally, Blizzard has decided to put an end to the doubts of users and as we can read in the official statement, Diablo IV open beta will open the weekend of March 17-19 for those who pre-purchased the game. And those who don’t? They will have to wait since the beta version, but not long will open to everyone on the weekend of March 24-26.
The statement suggests that the open beta will provide access to the game’s prologue and first act. Its first area, called Fractured Peaks, will be fully explorable by players, but the developer decided to set the cap at level 25. Additionally, and as we could already imagine, the progress we make in the beta version will not carry over to the final version of Diablo IV, unless we will get it when it is released.
Will you try the Diablo IV open beta? What do you expect from the game?
