Two Ukrainian defenders will be fitted with high-tech bionic prostheses from Open Bionics.

According to Ukrinform, this was announced by the Ministry of Health.

“Andriy Gidzun and Vitaly Ivashchuk are the first Ukrainian patients to be fitted with high-tech bionic prostheses from Open Bionics. Both hands were amputated due to a landmine explosion. Defenders Ukraine, front will receive Hero Arms, the state-of-the-art bionic prosthesis of the upper limbs, from British manufacturer Open Bionics.”

The Ministry of Health noted that this is possible thanks to the strategic partnership between Mastercard and Superhumans. The partners also organized training for three Ukrainian prosthetic engineers based on Open Bionics.

Hero Arms are custom made, so the patient must be measured, tested, etc. before wearing the prosthesis. To go through these procedures, the military traveled to Munich with engineers, as well as the Superhumans and Open Bionics teams, where Ukrainian advocates had the opportunity to test bionic prostheses.

Boys will receive their personal prosthetics in a few weeks. Subsequently, after the Superhumans clinic in Lviv becomes fully operational, all stages of prosthetics will be made in Ukraine.

Hero Arms are bionic upper limb prostheses known in the world for their high functionality and brilliant design. The lightweight and versatile prosthesis includes a series of light, sound and vibration signals that provide users with feedback on the condition of their bionic arm.

Superhumans is a modern prosthetics, reconstruction and rehabilitation clinic, which will soon open in Lviv. Currently, the hospital is completing the equipment of the medical buildings. Superhumans services will be free for victims of war, funded by hospital donors and partners.
