In December 2022, WhatsApp began testing picture-in-picture (PiP) support for video calls on the iPhone. Apple confirmed last week that the tool will be available to all users running iOS 12 or later.

Users who are in a video call and want to perform other tasks will have the app screen minimized to one of the corners of the screen.

The application usually receives constant updates with news throughout the year. New tools are first tested by beta users and then made available to all users. Among the next innovations in the testing phase, Meta is looking to implement a video call scheduling feature, as well as resources for converting audio to text. At the moment, such news is not available to all users and should appear for iOS and Android smartphones in future updates.
