Microsoft took a new step in promoting the Edge browser. As users have noted, Microsoft Edge for Windows now displays some pretty aggressive ads on Chrome’s download page to deter those who get away with switching to a competing browser.
This behavior was noted by users of the test build of Microsoft Edge for Windows (Canary). Users noticed a message on Chrome’s download page stating that Microsoft Edge is running on the same technology as Chrome and with added confidence from Microsoft.
The full-width banner appears directly below the address bar and looks like part of a Google-generated page. Also, a small ad appears when the Chrome page first loads. Such innovations caused a negative reaction among users.
The stable version of Edge does not have such aggressive ads. It is quite possible that the negative reaction in the network prevented Microsoft from implementing such an innovation in the stable version. A week ago, it was learned that Microsoft started promoting Edge for Outlook users on iPhone.
