Dell has announced the renewal of its stellar laptop lineup by updating the Dell XPS 15 and XPS 17 to the latest generation of Intel processors and the latest NVIDIA graphics.

The Dell XPS 13 is one of the best ultraportables on the market. It was the model chosen years ago to demonstrate the capacity of Linux as a pre-installed system in laptops for mass consumption (Project Sputnik) and was renewed inside and out in 2022, including certification for Ubuntu Linux. Now comes restoration for his older brothers.

Dell XPS 15 and 17 (2023)

These laptops maintain the minimalist and modern design line we saw with the XPS 13, sa aluminum chassis which reduces thickness and weight, high-resolution screens with minimal bezels and a large number of configuration options.

Dell XPS 15 (9530) with display 15.6 inches you can equip a non-touch IPS panel with a native resolution of FHD (1920 x 1200 pixels) or a touchscreen OLED display of 3456 x 2160 pixels, both with an aspect ratio of 16:10. There are also two options for the Dell XPS 17 (9730), p 17 inches which can equip a FHD non-touch IPS panel and another OLED multi-touch panel that increases the resolution to 3456 x 2160 pixels.

Laptops have been upgraded with processors Intel 13th Gen Core45W Raptor Lake H with three versions to choose from:

  • Intel Core i5-13500H (4 P cores + 8 E cores, up to 4.7 GHz)
  • Intel Core i7-13700H (6 P cores + 8 E cores, up to 5 GHz)
  • Intel Core i9-13900H (6 P cores + 8 E cores, up to 5.4 GHz)

as for graphic partDell offers plenty of options, choosing between the Intel Arc A370M or the latest NVIDIA RTX 40 Mobile, models 4050, 4060, 4070 or 4080. Interestingly, although these are not specific gaming laptops (this section is covered by Alienware) they are the first to go on sale options with dedicated graphics, although we expect more that only work with integrated Intel processors.

Both models can equip 32 GB of dual-channel DDR5-4800 memory and PCIe Gen 4 SSDs up to 1 Tbyte in size. Connectivity options are state-of-the-art, with Thunderbolt 4, USB-C ports, HDMI output, a headphone jack on the four-speaker powered audio system, an SD card reader, and Intel AX211/Killer 1675 wireless cards with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 support.

The prices that are advanced are quite high for the series. $2,949 and $3,399 respectively for both models. As we said above, these are the highest configurations with dedicated NVIDIA graphics. Dell will later release versions with integrated graphics, which should lower that price (by quite a bit).
