This offer is part of what is known as a European digital wallet. a unique app that will bring all our documents together digitally however, it is still under development for now and exact dates for official implementation are unknown.
It is true that in Spain we already have the possibility to carry all the information of our driver’s license on our mobile thanks to the MiDGT application, but the problem is that This documentation is valid for the Spanish region only. Therefore, if we go abroad, it will be 100% necessary to take the physical card with us.
For now, this is just a proposal from Brussels, but if eventually implemented, it will be the first digital driver’s license in the world. The advantages of this are obvious: we can travel between union countries without having to carry the physical driver’s license with usthat would be much easier replace or renew when all procedures are done digitally and even reduce the use of plastic.
