The Casio G-Shock line of sports watches has a legion of fans. And it’s logical. Those of us who enjoy nature, whether it’s running, biking, hiking, or out of a pure need to escape the punishment that big cities bring, appreciate this series of durable watches.

Although Casio has been adding smartwatch features in recent years, the series still lags behind competition from giants like Garmin. Now, Casio is adding a suite of technology from another heart rate giant, Polar, to make its watch smarter than ever.

On top of that, this new model adds a kit additional sensors which allow for improved health and fitness monitoring functions while maintaining the degree of durability of the series. Includes GPS for automatic tracking of all activities, heart rate sensor, altimeter, temperature sensor, built-in compass, gyroscope and accelerometer.

It has further improvements on the previous model. For starters, it’s a 38% lighter Thanks to the use of new carbon-reinforced resin materials and a thinner rechargeable battery, which, while maintaining a double-layer design against shocks or falls and resistance to 20 bars, weighs only 68g.

In addition to the capabilities of Google’s Wear OS, it has added the Polar database for analyzing sleep or breathing exercises, as well as tracking activities such as running, cycling, swimming, gym workouts, timed intervals and more.

The new Casio retains the features that made the series popular, such as solar charging, USB cable or wireless battery charging, which in watch mode lasts for almost two months of autonomy or 16 hours with all sensors activated. The Casio G-Shock GBD-H2000 will be available in two color options for the price 299 dollars.
