The first four mammals were introduced in 1981 to Colombia for drug dealer Pablo Escobar, but they were released in Antioquia after his death in 1993, and there are currently about 70 specimens that endanger native species.

Anibal Gaviria indicated on his Twitter account that the Ostok Nature Reserve International Foundation had expressed interest in moving 70 specimens to India and Mexico. At first it was proposed to “eliminate” mammalsbut local self-government took over.
The local president explained that 60 copies will be sent to India and 10 left, to Mexico. “They will make a fantastic trip to new homes,” he said.
Pablo Escobar brought from the American zoo in three women and one man as part of his private collection at Hacienda Nápoleswho later escaped their imprisonment by dispersing on their own.
