Synology launches the new DS1823xs+ for SMBs with up to 144TB of storage. If you expand the drive, you can lose up to 344 TB of storage space.

The 8-bay Synology DS1823xs+ offers flexible, large storage for SMBs. In addition to backups, you can use the powerful AMD Ryzen V1780B for virtualization. Important note: This is only a 4-core CPU without an integrated GPU. The system has 8 GB of DDR4 RAM on board, which is ECC-compliant. If you wish, you can plug additional memory into the second free memory slot. The maximum configuration supported is 32 GB (2×16 GB).

The NAS offers space for 8 hard drives and two M.2 slots. If you want more storage, you can add up to 10 additional hard drive slots via two DX517 units. The theoretical total storage space without RAID configuration is 344 TB.

According to Synology, the DS1823xs+ is capable of sequential reading at up to 3,100 MB/s and writing at 2,600 MB/s. Thanks to the integrated 10GbE connection, you can achieve these speeds. The NAS supports up to four optional 1/10/25GbE or Fiber Channel ports. The power consumption in sleep mode is 28.37 watts and increases to 87.93 watts in active operation.

Synology DiskStation Manager (DSM) gives you access to numerous applications, including public and private cloud, backup solution, video camera suite, containerization, and virtualization. The Central Management System allows you to conveniently manage all Synology NAS systems centrally. Finally, the high availability option allows you to switch seamlessly between clustered servers in the event of a server failure.

The Synology DS1823xs+ comes standard with a five-year manufacturer’s warranty and has a suggested retail price of EUR 1,599 excluding VAT. The NAS is available immediately.
