Apple is preparing a new iMac with an M3 processor

According to Bloomberg editor Mark Gurman in his latest newsletter, Apple is developing new iMacs with M3 processors to be released in the coming months. power on.

All-in-one desktop computers, also known as AIOs, are not a group of massive sales among the large group of computers, but they are very popular with users who do not want to use typical towers and are committed to the aesthetics of these devices, which include the display screen and all the electronics in the same device.

New iMac with M3 processor

Apple leads sales in this segment with iMacs and last updated the series in 2021 in what was for the first time using a proprietary ARM chip as a replacement for Intel x86 in their AIOs. All indications are that this year is the time for renewal.

Bloomberg says the new models have entered a pre-production phase known internally as a technical verification test. According to his estimates, they will go into series production in three months, so the schedule for launch is between spring and summer this year.

No major innovations in design are expected, as this part was covered in the last update with a reduction in the thickness and size of the bezels, as well as the arrival of different colored surfaces. In terms of size, Gurman says Apple will continue to go with a 24-inch base version, although a 27-inch “Pro” model is expected.

The biggest innovation will be its internal hardware with Apple M3 SoC. The company would skip the M2 and go straight to the next generation of its own designed ARMs. They would be manufactured by TSMC’s foundry in 3nm process technologies, and a new leap in performance and efficiency is expected with four dies that would allow up to 40 computing cores. Apple dazzles with its silicon program and continues to improve with each generation.

iMac They won’t be the only ones with the Apple M3 and from Bloomberg also talk about the ultra-light MacBook Air 2023, which other analysts in the past months have indicated as another of Apple’s teams to be launched this year.
