According to cybersecurity experts at PeckShield, the hacker hacked Deus Finance’s DeFi program and stole more than $13.4 million in cryptocurrencies. The attacker was able to artificially inflate the value of some assets, borrow money under protocol and make a profit after repaying the loan.

Deus allows developers to create financial services such as lending, futures and options trading on its platform. The hacker borrowed $143 million and managed to withdraw $13.4 million, PeckShield warned, the project’s overall loss could be higher.

This is the second break in the protocol in the last two months. In March, an unidentified person similarly attacked the project and withdrew $3 million.

According to CoinGecko, against the background of another hacker attack, the cost of the own token of the DEUS project fell by 16% in one day. The altcoin is trading at $502 and has a market cap of $47.4 million.
